Central Park, July 2010

Hello and thank you for stopping by Aubrey Road.

This blog is the virtual home for all of my favorite things, named after my first real home—the street I grew up on just outside of New York City in Montclair, New Jersey. As a child, I believed that if I squinted my eyes hard enough I could see the ocean at the end of Aubrey Road. Fast forward several years, with time spent living in New York, Northern California and on Maui, and I still couldn't shake memories of sand and sea from my mind. So, in 2004, I transferred to the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I surfed every day and received my degree in English with a focus in poetry. After graduating, I stayed in Hawaii and worked for a local publishing company from 2007 to 2011.

Until this past February, I was the associate editor and chief photo stylist for the Islands' leading shelter magazine with more than 100,000 monthly readers. My work has appeared in Hawaii Home + Remodeling magazine, HONOLULU magazine, Hawaii Business magazine, Standup Paddle Magazine and on LeiChic.com and Nickelodeon.com. I left my job to explore life living and working abroad in Sydney, Australia for several months as a styling assistant on jobs for David Jones, Inside Out and Real Living magazines. I have since returned to Hawaii and I am now freelancing as a stylist/writer. If you have any questions or comments, or just want to say hi, please email me at aubreyrd@gmail.com.
