Central Park, July 2010This blog is the virtual home for all of my favorite things, named after my first real home—the street I grew up on just outside of New York City in Montclair, New Jersey. As a child, I believed that if I squinted my eyes hard enough I could see the ocean at the end of Aubrey Road. Fast forward several years, with time spent living in New York, Northern California and on Maui, and I still couldn't shake memories of sand and sea from my mind. So, in 2004, I transferred to the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I surfed every day and received my degree in English with a focus in poetry. After graduating, I stayed in Hawaii and worked for a local publishing company from 2007 to 2011.
Until this past February, I was the associate editor and chief photo stylist for the Islands' leading shelter magazine with more than 100,000 monthly readers. My work has appeared in Hawaii Home + Remodeling magazine, HONOLULU magazine, Hawaii Business magazine, Standup Paddle Magazine and on LeiChic.com and Nickelodeon.com. I left my job to explore life living and working abroad in Sydney, Australia for several months as a styling assistant on jobs for David Jones, Inside Out and Real Living magazines. I have since returned to Hawaii and I am now freelancing as a stylist/writer. If you have any questions or comments, or just want to say hi, please email me at aubreyrd@gmail.com.
